PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN: "IT IS NECESSARY TO RETURN RESPECT FOR THE LAW, THE CULTURE OF DIALOGUE, TRUST AND PREDICTABILITY IN RELATIONS BETWEEN STATES TO THE WORLD POLITICS"

Speaking at the meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the format of videoconferencing, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that «in the coming years, in our views, the primary task is to increase economic cooperation, use the combined industrial, resource and technological potential of the Commonwealth in order to achieve sustainable positions in the global processes».

In his speech, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also emphasized that «Turkmenistan has put forward a number of important initiatives to establish transport and logical hubs in Central Asia and Caspian Basin with access to the European vector of the Commonwealth».

In this regard, it was noted that the International Conference of Ministers of Landlocked Developing Countries is planned to be held in Turkmenistan in April 2022, which is an important topic for most CIS countries.

Among the most important areas of our cooperation, Turkmenistan highlights the joint protection of existing global security architecture, upholding the norms of international law and the UN Charter, noted the Head of Turkmenistan. It is necessary to return respect for the law, the culture of dialogue, trust and predictability in relations between states to the world politics, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized.

It was stated that, completing the events within the framework of the Year of Peace and Trust, Turkmenistan plans to convene in Ashgabat International Conference «The Policy of Peace and Trust is the foundation of international security, stability and development» and in this regard, Leader of the Nation invited the Commonwealth countries to participate in this event.

Countering coronavirus pandemic and minimizing its socio-economic consequences were put forward as topical areas of joint activities of the Commonwealth countries. In this connection, the need for more mechanisms of interaction through scientific diplomacy, medical communities to develop common approaches and methods was expressed.  

The cultural and humanitarian sphere remains a strong and reliable bond of the CIS states and peoples. We are firmly committed on preserving and strengthening the established ties and enriching them with new forms, said the Head of Turkmenistan.
